It is most shocking to learn that Gauri Lankesh, a senior journalist and activist, has been shot dead. It is fairly apparent that it is her uncompromising stand against communalism, mafia style politics and corruption that has led to this brutal murder. It is most fearsome that after Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar and M.M. Kalburgi, this is the fourth such killing that has taken place in a very short span of time.
E-Njattuvela, the cultural collective, lodges its protest at the murder of Gauri Lankesh. We, as members of the collective and as citizens of India, demand of the Chief Minister and Home Minister of Karnataka that the murderers be found and brought to justice at the earliest. Navamalayali joins in this condemnation statement and urges all our readers, believers and supporters of democracy and progressive thinking to join hands in this effort.
